A Voice for Justice: Carlos Rodriguez’s Advocacy at the Georgia State Capitol

In March of 2025, Carlos Rodriguez spent a week at the Georgia State Capitol sharing his insight and experience in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure with various legislators. Rodriguez served as the Lawyer of the Week on behalf of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, discussing such bills as HB 421HB 10, and SB 132. HB 421 provides for the criminal offense of traveling interstate for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts with a child; HB 10 aims to prohibit the commercial distribution of arrest booking photographs for people not convicted of crimes; SB 132 seeks to require a court to hold a hearing when criminal defense counsel brings to the court’s attention a bona fide doubt as to the client’s competency to stand trial. Pictured below, Rodriguez provided his comments and insight before the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee.
